2022 London Ski & Snowboard Festival Cancelled

[b]The team at Smart Group have confirmed that they are cancelling this year's London Ski & Snowboard Festival.
"We deeply regret not being able to deliver the London Ski & Snowboard Festival this year as planned. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are now preparing for a major venue launch and in order to continue executing at a high standard we require our full team to bring the project to life. We are thrilled another partner is as excited as we were to begin working on the London Ski & Snowboard Festival 2023."

Crans Montana awarded the 2027 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships

The Swiss ski resort of Crans Montana has been named as the host of the 2027 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships following the FIS council elections and award ceremony in Milan on Wednesday May 25, 2022.
The resort previously hosted the biennial competition in 1987.

Charamaillon lift in Chamonix to be upgraded

[b]Work is continuing this spring on the upgrade of the Charamaillon lift in the Le Tour sector of Chamonix.
Work began last spring in May 2021, with the construction of the top lift station. Now the 2021/22 winter season has finished, construction has resumed on the rebuilding of the base station at Le Tour and the gondola installation.

Record numbers of skiers for US resorts in 2021-22

[b]The NSAA (National Ski Areas Association) has reported record numbers for the 2021-2022 season.
Attendances were 3.5% compared to the previous season with 61 million skier-days counted in 473 ski resorts, this was despite the fact that snowfall was less than the ten year average.

Three Glaciers to open for Summer Skiing in France

The 2021/22 winter wrapped up last weekend as Europe's highest ski resort, Val Thorens, finally closed their lifts for the season.
This was despite excellent late-season snow, with 30cm of new snow falling in the final week of the season.

Flights to Austria Klagenfurt From UK Return for Winter 22/23

Ryanair are to resume flights to Klagenfurt airport in Carinthia, southern Austria, for next ski season.
The airport is a gateway airport to ski areas in the southern half of Austria like Nassfeld, Schladming and Bad Kleinkirchheim, which are more distant from the commonly used Austrian 'ski' airports of Innsbruck and Salzburg in the north. It is also close to the Slovenian border and resorts like Bled and Kranjska Gora there.

Ischgl, the Austrian ski centre that has been taken to court accused of not doing enough to stop being a super-spreader of coronavirus in the early months of the pandemic, reports its business was down 25% on the pre-pandemic average, but officials say that's better than they hoped.
