(Still More) Heavy Snow in the Alps
Login
It is snowing again in the Alps as forecast after a few days break from the last huge snow storms.
Up to 90cm more snow is expected at some resorts by the end of the weekend.
Ski areas in Austria, Italy, Germany and Switzerland have been posting big snowfall totals for the past 24 hours already.
Switzerland's Flumserberg says 60cm (two feet) of snow has fallen there since yesterday.
Resorts reporting 40 - 50cm of new snowfall in the same period include Germany's Balderschwang and Austria's Galtur as well as Laax, Villars, Murren and the Portes du Soleil in Switzerland (pictured top).
In France there's been 30cm (a foot) or more of fresh snow so far at Val d'Isere, Val Thorens, La Plagne and les Menuires, and the same total reported by Cervinia.
Many other resorts have reported 20-30cm of fresh snow.
The avalanche danger level remains very high.
