The main weather feature of the past seven days, on both sides of the Atlantic, has been early Spring conditions - with temperatures 5C to 10C above average.
Although this has diminished snow cover, particularly at low levels, high level resorts continue to benefit from the big snows earlier in the season.
Despite the warmth, a number of Austrian resorts had fresh snow this last week, whilst American and Canadian ski areas in the North West have seen some substantial snow storms.
European Weather and Snow This Coming Week
The current high temperatures are about to give way to more usual mid-March levels, and should fall around 10C by Monday. Un-settled weather should roll into the Northern and Central Alps for several days, and the forecasts are looking good for some useful snowfall in these areas early next week.
Beyond the middle of next week, the outlook is much less clear but it does look as if most of the Alpine area will cool off for the rest of the month.
Update - 16th March 2012
The overnight runs of the forecast models look to have increased the expected snow for the Northern Alps, at least, with temperatures coming down a step. Could be quite a few areas with Powder all over again next week... :D
