Excited newby

Me and my hubby are going to seefeld on 2/1/16, we, no rephrase that I am so excited, neither of us have ever been on a winter holiday and I can't wait to learn to ski, well hope there is snow, does any of you nice people know if there isn't snow and you have paid upfront for lessons will you ski somewhere else?cheers in advance for answers and feel free to give us any advice!

Odds on you'll be alright in early January for snow. I wouldn't worry much about snow anyway - you can't do much about snow. I'd get yourself ready for the holiday by getting fit (if you are not already) and by having a few lessons on a dry slope (if you have one near by). I would ask lots of questions on this forum and on Snowheads about starting skiing e.g. about what clothing to take, where to buy it from etc.

Already bought my coat after lots of research, have ski trousers donated from sister in law! Need to get ski goggles, oh and bought thermals, so nearly there with the gear I think!, don't want to try the dry slopes incase I put my other half off! We have booked lessons so will take things slow and sensible! Thanx for reply dobby

Welcome Beanski; as Dobby says, don't worry about the snow (you just need "enough", which isn't huge amounts for your first trip) but do start getting ready for your trip. The more you know, and the fitter you are, the more fun you'll have.

Then you can look forward to skimping on summer hols and wishing the Autumns away to the next winter... 8)

Excellent start Beanski. Try to beg, borrow or steal kit for the first holiday in case you don't take to skiing (there are some odd people who don't). Make sure you get decent gloves 'cos there's nothing worse than cold wet hands. Not a bad call re the dry slope - they can be hard to ski on and can be a bit demoralising. If you are buying your own helmet, make sure that any goggles you buy fit with the helmet. As Admin says, you'll soon be wishing away autumn, waiting for ski time.
