I was just wondering if it's possible to rent transceivers in resort. I'll be heading to Les Deux Alpes, arriving on saturday, and if the conditions are good I'd quite like to do some off-piste stuff, but I don't own a transceiver of my own.

Also, anyone got an idea of how much it would cost?

The ski club used to run a rental program, probably too late for that.

If I were you, I'd drop a note to the tourist office. You may also find they have a training session.

apparently there's a training thing in LDA :

The exchange rate being what it is, it's not going to be the best time to buy one while you're there though

Not sure, Bennyboy is the dude to speak to about it..
£10 p/w seems to stick in my head as the price but I am not sure.

That looks like a pretty good programme, though I'm thinking my rather basic French skills might be something of an impediment.\

It's my birthday in February, so maybe I'll be able to get my own then. At the moment, I'm struggling to find the money to pay my rent, so buying one myself is out of the question.

Thanks for the information, both of you. :)

Again, I'd say have a word with the tourist office, I think they're sponsoring that program, they may run it in English as a matter of course or have some demand that week.

I think the courses are a good idea, in fact I'd like to see something more being run here, we've got a transceiver park, it's just a case of someone pulling their finger out and sorting it out I think
