I couldn't see on the post what the angle was, the risk that day or even the slope aspect and prevailing wind direction so it's hard to draw much from the account for me personally. I see digging pits on a ridge proved to be of little use which is something that's discussed a lot.

One thing that strkes me is that the slope angleodes not look that steep, ~ but this is a point that Ise has made before.
