Sadly, it does not look very good in Borovets either, judging from these webcams.. http://www.bulgariaski.com/webcam.php?resort=Borovets&lang=en

Perhaps someone who is out there or has been recently can comment.

Good luck.

PS the page seems to take a while to load, as it contains several camera links. Give it a minute or two and all will be revealed.

Superduke_Chris wrote:Thanks folks. Yes it was me on the bukgariaski website, the transport to Borovets each day is certainly an option, although I expect it will be over an hour each way so it's not something we would do every day. At least its an option we didn't know about a a day ago and we have the opportunity to get some skiing in, even if it's not all week.

Obviously we knew there was a real snow risk booking for this late in the season, but my wife and I have had our main ski holiday this season in Chatel and this was an opportinity to get a last quick trip in at a low price, and take the kids with us. It's cost us less than £250 each for flights, accomodation and transfers.
You could be going to ADH, L2A or Serre Che for under £150 this weekend, fully catered with flights and transfers. All snow sure resorts. L2A was actually going for £99, just goes to show what you can get if you book late.
Personally I wouldn't go to Bulgaria for skiing at any time, but going this stage of the season is a massive gamble.

They were Rocket Ski deals, mostly club hotels which is basically half board with wine thrown in usually. Flights from MAN or LGW, you cant go wrong at those price.

Easyjet will charge you £50 to change I think.

If you'd rather have a catered chalet, there are a couple of cheap ones on teletextholidays.co.uk

AlpeD'Huez £219 and La Plagne £189

These people do short breaks at Tignes (which seems to have okay snow at the moment). If you give them a ring/e-mail them I'm sure they'll give you a price, although it won't be such a bargain as the ones Tony and I found. And EasyJet fly in to Geneva (where the chalet staff pick you up and take you to Tignes) so you might be able to swap your flights.

Short break packages dont work out cost effective at all.
I had 4 days skiing in Serre Che early April 2010 and we drove down in a day easily, and booked an apartment for 4 people for £200 online.
