We normally do Sauze D oulx because of the extensive ski area and the busy nightlife, but because of the olympics this year we want to try somewhere else,
What do you think of Les Deux Alpes? for a group od good itermediate skiers, whats the Nightlife like and importantly is it very expensive for food and beer
any opinions welcome
Thanks

iI, we went in October , restaurants reasonable, small beer around 2€ , lots of cheap pizza places. loads of bars.
Ple nty of nightlife. I think it would be a great choice.

Thnaks for the reply, What do you think of the ski area? I have read that getting up the mountain can be a slow job because of the lifts, is this true?

Take half an hour up to the glacier. Not skied it in midwinter though. Lots of lifts so I think lots of alternatives to the ones with queues. If you can avoid the French holidays, esp February, you should be OK. My friend is a ski instructor out there,

Thanks for the replies. If February is busy what is the place like in March? does the snow last well enough for good conditions, Last Feb we did Sauze Doulx but the snow conditions were just awful with only about 30% of the resort open so we dont want a repeat of that!, My new skis were trashed, I would have been better on roller blades!

Alvin, the conditions will be fine in LDA in March. You can't compare it to Sauze as it's much higher altitiude (glacier is 3600m). The conditions were particularly poor last season too. LDA already has had a good dump of snow. March will be much quieter. No school holidays this March.
